SHU provides two levels of student sustainability leadership training by supporting Siena Heights University’s commitment to achieving sustainability, BIO 280 for sophomores and juniors serving and learning as sustainability interns for the first time, and BIO 480 for juniors and seniors and returning interns, who want to serve and learn for an additional semester. Students work collaboratively with all levels at the university, including administration, faculty, staff and students, to help plan, develop, and coordinate sustainability efforts. Students support and evaluate existing sustainability programs and guide the development of new projects that support sustainability. Students also raise awareness within and outside of Siena Heights University of ongoing campus sustainability initiatives. Students can intern for 1 credit hour in each of the internship courses.
